Overview
PET bottles hold air. If they are baled without being pierced, the bale expands after the press opens and loses density in storage and transport. The perforator sits in the line ahead of the baler and punctures bottles as they pass through, so the press works against material rather than against trapped air.
It is normally installed together with a feeding conveyor as part of a PET line.
